Kids At Work

10/7/11  This morning, the students continued working on their citizenship "webquest" project.  This is a web-based lesson that walks the students through different projects and lessons about citizenship.  They are working with partners to complete their "Citizenship Booklets".  Here are several pictures of the students in action :)

 These pictures were taken on Tuesday morning.  I had just introduced a new poem about September 11 to the students and we discussed the poem and chose words in the poem that we didn't know.  The students broke into groups to help look the words up in the dictionary.  Most of the students looked the words up using the regular dictionary.  A couple of students used dictionary.com to look up the words.  Dictionary.com is one of the tools that I have introduced to the students to help them with unkown words while reading and with spelling certain words while in Writer's Workshop.  We try to incorporate technology into the curriculum whenever possible.
